Cockney Kings Fish & Chips

I used to love Cockney Kings ayce Monday to Weds deal, but not since they changed it from Cod to Bassa. Bassa is a great fish that stands up to deepfrying very well. I find the fish a bit on the mushy side. Also, I would love to know where this Bassa fish is raise or bought from. Some areas in the world where this fish is raised are very polluted waters and that just turns me off eating ayce at fish & chips stores.
the cod or the halibut dishes are still great though.

Take out is good, but the food is only good when it's hot. If you order ahead, get there right away! Depending on how busy they are, it might get done in 5 minutes or 15.

Hi, we were at cockney kings last night and waited in line which was fine, but people were going ahead of us and no one was doing anything about it. We couldn't even stay and eat. We left very mad and upset. My husband was so mad he knocked on the glass and yelled and that man that we asked to wait his turn.
An ederly woman walked by and sat by herself at a table for 4. It was so upsetting that we waited and no one did anything about it. We love Cockney kings. darlene.galbraitprotectedemailurnaby.ca

the best ive ever had

I went to Cockney Kings on Kingsway in Burnaby on September 8, 2005. I called ahead to order halibut and chips with gravy for the whole family. The fish was extremely overcooked and was very thin. The fries were cold. The large gravy
was 6 oz and gelatinous and cold. The food preparation area was disorganized
and the counters were not clean. It was a Seinfeld moment when the counter staff kept calling the wrong name for pick up. It is sad because this used to be consistantly the best place for fish and chips and worth driving the extra mile to go to. Never again!

good food fine service... you know that any eatery that caters to the staff that work there, has to be good. Another good thing to notice is how many englanders frequent the place. I don't know of any time that they are not busy.
{not that you would ever have to wait a great time to be seated}
Over all ,in the last number of years , I have only been disapointed,
by the lack of late night operation of this truely great fish and chips shop.
